ABOUT VEG 4 YOU PTY LTD
Veg 4 You Pty Ltd is a fresh produce distribution company headquartered in Northfield, South Australia. The company specialises in the sourcing, packaging, and delivery of high-quality fruits and vegetables to a diverse client base including retail outlets, supermarkets, restaurants, and local markets across the state. The business operates a fleet of refrigerated trucks to ensure the safe and timely transportation of perishable goods under strict food safety and quality standards. Veg 4 You Pty Ltd maintains strong relationships with local farmers and regional suppliers to provide a wide variety of seasonal produce year-round. Daily operations encompass receiving, sorting, packing, and dispatching fresh produce to meet the varying demands of its customers. The company places high value on efficiency, reliability, and customer satisfaction, with sustainability and responsible sourcing forming a core part of its business ethos. Given the perishable nature of the goods handled and the volume of deliveries required daily across South Australia, the logistics and distribution function — specifically the Truck Driver role — is critical to the company's operational continuity.
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Truck Driver is a frontline operational role responsible for the safe, compliant, and timely transportation of fresh produce across South Australia. The role holder is integral to Veg 4 You Pty Ltd's daily distribution operations, ensuring that perishable goods are delivered in optimal condition to all designated clients in accordance with agreed schedules, food safety requirements, and road transport legislation.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Truck Driver at Veg 4 You Pty Ltd will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties carried out within the context of fresh produce distribution operations:
- Manoeuvre refrigerated trucks into loading bays, coolroom docks, and client delivery points across Veg 4 You Pty Ltd's Northfield facility and customer sites, ensuring precise vehicle positioning for the safe and efficient transfer of fresh produce consignments.
- Load and unload fresh produce — including palletised boxes, bulk crates, and produce bins — using hydraulic tailgate loaders, pallet jacks, and tipping devices, handling delicate perishable items such as berries, stone fruits, and leafy vegetables with care to avoid damage.
- Observe all loading and unloading safety protocols in accordance with Veg 4 You Pty Ltd's Work Health & Safety (WHS) policies and Food Safety Management System, including correct PPE use, handbrake procedures, and safe step-down practices at all delivery points.
- Conduct thorough pre-departure and post-delivery vehicle inspections covering tyres, brakes, lighting systems, refrigeration units, and load restraint equipment to confirm the vehicle is roadworthy and fit for the carriage of perishable goods prior to each delivery run.
- Calculate and verify total cargo weights before each run to ensure full compliance with Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) and axle load limits under the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL), and plan the distribution of produce loads within the vehicle to maintain stability and prevent load shift in transit.
- Ensure all fresh produce consignments are correctly stowed, securely restrained with load straps or cargo nets, and maintained at the required refrigeration temperatures throughout transport, in accordance with Veg 4 You Pty Ltd's Cold Chain Management procedures.
- Verify all dispatch and loading documentation — including delivery dockets, run sheets, consignment notes, and purchase orders — prior to departure from the Northfield warehouse, confirming accuracy of product descriptions, quantities, and delivery addresses.
- Inspect the condition of fresh produce at point of loading and point of delivery, record any deterioration, transit damage, or temperature deviations, and escalate discrepancies to the Operations Manager in accordance with the company's quality control procedures.
- Obtain client signatures, delivery confirmations, and proof-of-delivery records at each drop point, and return completed documentation to the dispatch office to ensure full traceability of all produce movements across Veg 4 You Pty Ltd's distribution network.
- Maintain accurate driver log books, vehicle trip records, and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) declarations in compliance with HVNL obligations, and represent Veg 4 You Pty Ltd professionally at all client premises including supermarkets, restaurants, and local markets across South Australia.
