About the role:

Reporting to the National Operations Manager, you will lead terminal operations at Aurizon’s Forrestfield Terminal, with full accountability for safety, operational performance, people leadership and commercial outcomes.

This is a senior operational leadership role suited to someone who has already operated at terminal or site leader level and thrives in complex, safety‑critical environments. You will drive operational efficiency, maximise asset utilisation and labour productivity, and deliver reliable, customer‑focused outcomes supported by strong commercial discipline.

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Champion Aurizon’s “We know safe, We choose safe” culture and ensure consistent application of safety systems
  • Deliver terminal performance outcomes aligned to customer, service and contractual KPIs
  • Manage terminal financial performance, controlling costs and driving revenue growth using SAP and core operational systems
  • Optimise asset utilisation and labour productivity to maximise throughput and commercial performance
  • Lead the allocation and deployment of terminal resources to meet operational, customer and commercial requirements
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align resources and achieve business objectives
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve cycle times, payloads and service outcomes
  • Provide strong frontline leadership, setting clear expectations and building an engaged, accountable terminal workforce
  • Lead incident investigations, ensuring timely, accurate and compliant outcomes

About you:

You are an experienced operations leader who has operated at terminal or site leadership level within a complex rail, logistics or heavy industrial environment. You are comfortable owning safety, performance and commercial outcomes end‑to‑end.

You will bring:

  • 5+ years’ leadership experience in large-scale terminal, rail or logistics operations
  • Demonstrated experience managing terminal performance, including cost control, asset utilisation and revenue growth
  • Proven capability leading large, diverse operational teams with clear accountability for results
  • Experience leading incident investigations, with ICAM or similar methodology preferred
  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Frontline Management (preferred), or equivalent leadership experience in large-scale terminal or industrial operations
  • Exposure to SAP or similar enterprise operational systems is beneficial, with systems training provided.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a practical, solutions‑focused approach
