Specialist Electrical Engineer (ANZSCO: 233311 – Electrical Engineer)
Full-time / Permanent
$100,000 – $110,000 (salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead advanced protection testing and commissioning activities across high voltage transmission and distribution substations
- Perform secondary injection testing on ABB, Siemens, Micom, GE and SEL protection relays using Omicron CMC, Megger SMRT, Freja and DV Power testing systems
- Conduct primary injection testing of power transformers, CTs, VTs and circuit breakers
- Commission and validate protection and control schemes in accordance with single-line diagrams, protection logic, IEC standards and project technical specifications
- Configure bay-level IEDs and protection devices including IEC 61850 engineering and communications integration
- Establish IED-to-server communications, simulate and verify GOOSE and MMS messaging, and validate SCADA, SOE, fault recorder and annunciation point lists
- Develop, implement and verify switchgear interlocking schemes and operational sequences
- Identify and rectify design discrepancies, protection coordination issues and technical non-conformances
- Provide specialist advisory support during project design, construction and energisation phases
- Assist in technical evaluation of protection schemes, automation systems and HV equipment
- Deliver structured technical training and masterclasses to engineers and HV technicians on protection testing, substation automation and commissioning methodologies
- Develop ITPs, ITRs, commissioning procedures and detailed technical reports upon completion of works
- Frequent travel to project sites within Western Australia, interstate and occasional international travel as required
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, compliance and client service delivery
Qualification and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent AQF Bachelor degree qualification
- Registered Electrical Engineer (or eligible for registration)
- Formal training and certifications in protection relay testing, Omicron testing systems, DV Power testing, protection coordination (IEEE standards), IEC 61850 engineering and related HV testing platforms
- Minimum five years of highly relevant industry experience in high voltage protection testing, commissioning and substation automation engineering
- Demonstrated experience interpreting complex electrical schematics, logic diagrams and protection coordination studies
- Proven experience in fault finding, analytical diagnostics and mentoring of junior engineering personnel
HV Technician (ANZSCO: 312312 – Electrical Engineering Technician)
Full-time / Permanent
$78,000 – $85,000 (salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work under the supervision and direction of an Electrical Engineer
- Carry out high voltage maintenance, testing and commissioning activities
- Test various protection relays including Sepam, VAMP, Siemens, SEL, GE Multilin, ABB, Reyrolle and GEC electromechanical relays
- Perform testing of protection systems including generator protection, transformer protection and cable protection schemes
- Demonstrate understanding and practical testing experience in Differential and Distance Protection schemes
- Utilise test equipment and software such as Omicron and DIGSI
- Conduct high voltage testing of transformers, motors, circuit breakers and cables
- Undertake substation maintenance activities
- Assist in the preparation of Technical Test Plans, ITPs and Punch Lists and prepare detailed technical reports upon completion of works
- Support arc flash modelling and assessment, high voltage single line diagram updates and HV submissions (advantageous)
- Travel frequently to project sites within Western Australia, Northern Territory and occasional international locations
- Maintain a strong commitment to exceptional client and customer service
Qualification and Experience:
- Relevant AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma or equivalent qualification with a minimum of two years of relevant experience
- At least three years of highly relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above
- Applicants holding formal qualifications must demonstrate at least one year of relevant industry experience
HV Cable Jointer / Splicer / Terminator (ANZSCO: 342212 – Technical Cable Jointer)
Full-time / Permanent
$76,000 – $80,000 (salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform high voltage cable jointing, splicing and terminations
- Complete in-line joints to required technical and safety standards
- Demonstrate experience working with Raychem and Nexans cable systems
- Carry out cable preparation, insulation, sealing and termination in accordance with manufacturer specifications
- Conduct VLF and IR testing where required (desirable but not essential)
- Work with paper lead cable systems (desirable but not essential)
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and project technical requirements
Qualification and Experience:
- AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3)
- At least three years of highly relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above
- Applicants holding formal qualifications must demonstrate at least one year of relevant industry experience
