As our Senior Technical Officer you will:

  1. Take a leadership role in delivering the experimental aspects of all Animal Science projects conducted on site and in local region, including planning, organising, designing, maintaining, conducting and reporting the experimental aspects of research projects with minimal supervision.
  2. Liaise with DPI and collaborating scientists, other technical and extension staff, research facility staff and grazier co-operators to conduct and service project activities efficiently.
  3. Lead the technical team based at Brian Pastures RF through co-ordinating workflow processes across all research projects. Manage responsibilities and ensure accountability across all technical staff and take responsibility for the quality of output of the work unit.
  4. Support and participate in delivery of extension activities occurring in the region.
  5. Maintain Brian Pastures RF’s ‘research ready’ status for Animal Science projects through actively participating as a member of a multidisciplinary team, building effective working relationships with project team members, stakeholders and Departmental staff.
  6. Awareness of, adherence to and promotion of strict animal welfare and safe work practices, including operating in remote environments.
  7. Communicate details of the research background, objectives, design and findings to visiting groups, including scientists, students and producers.
  8. Assist in the preparation of material for project reports for departmental, commercial clients and funding body publications; and assist with compilation of relevant industry extension material.
