Job Description:
·Lead the end-to-end buying strategy for assigned product categories, ensuring selections align with commercial objectives, sales targets and customer demands across national markets
·Drive high-level supplier sourcing activities, including identifying new international and domestic vendors, evaluating their capability, and onboarding strategic supply partners
·Conduct in-depth market forecasting through analysis of industry data, emerging trends, consumer behavior insights, and competitor movements to guide long-term purchasing direction
·Oversee inventory planning at a strategic level by setting stock parameters, managing supply pipelines, and minimizing stock-outs and overstock risks across the warehouse
·Negotiate high-value contracts and supply agreements with existing and new vendors, establishing terms relating to pricing, volumes, rebates, exclusivity arrangements, and delivery schedules
·Lead category performance reviews by analyzing sales metrics, gross margins, market penetration, and customer feedback, then implement actions to optimize category profitability
·Develop and execute product lifecycle strategies, including new product introduction, range expansion, product rationalization, and discontinuation decisions
·Collaborate closely with senior management, marketing, merchandising, and logistics teams to align buying decisions with promotional campaigns, pricing strategies, operational constraints, and corporate goals
·Maintain oversight of the annual purchasing budget by monitoring financial commitments, evaluating cost structures, and ensuring purchasing decisions support profit and expenditure targets
·Represent the company at trade shows, supplier meetings, industry expos, and market events to identify new opportunities and stay ahead of market developments
·Oversee the preparation of detailed reports, demand forecasts, category insights, and supplier performance evaluations to support executive decision-making and long-term planning
Relevant Qualifications and skills:
·Diploma of business-related studies or a higher qualification will be highly regarded
·At least 5 years or more in retail buyer-related field or work within similar role
·Strong communication skills – written and verbal
·Analytical skills – creative thinking
·Strong leadership skills
·Excellent interpersonal skills
·Well organized, able to work independently and mange tight deadlines
