Lead the delivery of critical road infrastructure across the Northern Territory.

The Department of Logistics and Infrastructure is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of specialist bitumen reseal and asphalt pavement rehabilitation programs across the Northern Territory road network.

This is a senior technical leadership role within Civil Operations and Maintenance, responsible for managing a specialist unit and delivering highquality sealing and asphalt works that support safe, reliable transport infrastructure across urban, regional and remote locations.

About the Role

As the Senior Project Manager, you will lead the Bitumen Group, managing the planning, delivery and performance of sealing and asphalt projects across the Territory.

You will oversee a small team of Project Managers and a Project Officer and work closely with industry, internal stakeholders and technical forums to ensure projects are delivered to agreed time, cost and quality outcomes.

The role involves a strong mix of program management, technical leadership, contract administration and stakeholder engagement, with opportunities to contribute to departmental standards, training and continuous improvement in bituminous works.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead and manage the Territory wide bitumen reseal program and asphalt pavement rehabilitation works
  2. Provide technical leadership and direction for sealing and asphalt projects from investigation through to delivery
  3. Manage complex civil construction projects, including design development, procurement and construction phases
  4. Undertake Superintendent’s Representative duties and oversee contractor performance
  5. Lead and develop a specialist team, supporting capability building and on the job technical development
  6. Provide expert technical advice on bituminous materials, specifications and delivery methods
  7. Represent the Department on technical forums and industry working groups
  8. Build strong working relationships with contractors, industry partners and internal stakeholders

About You

You are a civil engineering or technical construction professional with extensive experience delivering bitumen and asphalt projects in complex operating environments.

You bring strong leadership capability, sound judgement and the ability to balance technical, commercial and stakeholder considerations to deliver high quality infrastructure outcomes.

You are comfortable working across the Territory, including regional and remote locations, and thrive in a role where your technical expertise directly supports public infrastructure delivery.

The Work Environment

This role involves travel across the Northern Territory, including to remote locations, sometimes for periods of a week or longer. A current driver’s licence is required.
