Permanent role within a large national heavy engineering design firm in Newcastle. For a Mid to senior level Mechanical Engineer wanting to interface with customers and lead a project of engineers and design draftspeople.
A normal day will include reading and understanding procurement specifications, functional requirements and driving the development of the product. The projects suits an engineer coming from an heavy equipment or industrial design background. The projects worked on will include a large amount of sheet metal fabrication, mechanical and electrical fit outs and using machined items and profile plates. Once the projects are transitioned out of the design and prototyping phase, there's lots of opportunities for you to be involved in production support, estimating, qualification and verification testing to make sure the product performs the way it's supposed to. The role suits an experienced engineer that really likes to see the whole lifecycle go through, including being involved in the physical part of construction, including being on the workshop floor looking at what's going on.
