CommBank’s Financial Crime Operations (FCO) Strategy and Performance (S&P) team is looking for a Senior Manager to join our FCO Strategic Initiatives and Governance portfolio, responsible for identifying, scoping and delivering strategic initiatives.

Financial Crime Operations (FCO) is a team of 2000 Operations Professionals and leads the Group’s approach to managing Anti-Money Laundering, Counter Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) and Sanctions risks and obligations through the provision of operational services across the Customer Lifecycle. The Scope of work includes Onboarding and KYC, Enhanced Customer Due Diligence (ECDD), Ongoing Due Diligence including Transaction Monitoring (TM), Customer and Payment Screening and periodic KYC Refresh.

The Strategy & Performance function is an enablement function supporting Financial Crime Operations to meet the performance and quality objectives set by the Group. S&P work in partnership with the FCO operational teams to set the strategic direction, define performance targets and operating model as well as provide core enablement functions including; governance, workforce optimisation, performance insights, strategic initiatives, change management, capability, communications, etc.

Your Role.
As the Senior Manager Strategic Initiatives within FCO, you will form part of the Strategic Initiative and Governance leadership team. Leading a small team your role will be critical to identify, scope and deliver opportunities across FCO to improve timeliness or quality.

You will also be responsible for Identifying opportunities that exist across the FCO portfolio that would have beneficial impacts to timeliness of Financial Crime alert completion and/or the quality of the work conducted in FCO. This includes scoping potential benefits and establishing a benefits tracking mechanism.

Your Responsibilities may include:

  • Working with stakeholders to prioritise a backlog of these Strategic Initiatives ideas and select priority items for delivery each quarter.
  • Scope and deliver prioritised items – working across boundaries to understand the problem space deeply, identify and evaluate potential solutions, test & learn potential solutions – refining along the way and scaling optimal solutions for maximum benefit.
  • Working across a wide variety of stakeholders will be critical to ensure all opportunity is exhausted, solutions are fit for purpose and are implemented into the operational teams safely and securely to deliver outcomes, not just milestones.
  • Utilise the appropriate governance forums to secure required approvals for solutions and implementation
  • Be able to report status, escalate blockages and drive outcomes and adhere to the working with agile performance rhythms set for S&P

  • Track record of successfully delivering initiatives and solutions into large scale operations teams
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to utilise data to help size the problem space and potential benefits
  • A good understanding of financial crime obligations and the way in which Financial Crime Operations meets these obligations
  • Excellent communication, consulting and influencing skills
  • Strong decision making and critical thinking skills
