Mills Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Senior SubContracts Manager – Major Projects | Supply Chain for a minimum 12 month contract (with potential for extension) to join one of our top-tier clients – a global leader in engineering and construction, driving the success of complex and high-value projects. You will lead the end-to-end contractual lifecycle on major project packages within our dynamic Supply Chain team.

The Project:
 

The “West Ang Machine Replacement D” project replaces key machinery at Rio Tinto’s West Angelas mine in the Pilbara, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of essential equipment to support ongoing operations.

About the Role:

As Contracts Manager, you will take full commercial ownership of high-value, high-risk procurement and contract packages from pre-award through to post-award administration. Your ability to manage complex negotiations, ensure contractual compliance, and support project delivery will be critical to our continued success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare bidders’ lists, pre-qualify suppliers and issue bid packages for critical procurement scopes
  • Lead commercial evaluation of bids and prepare recommendations for award
  • Negotiate contract terms and conditions with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Draft and execute contracts and purchase orders in accordance with company procedures
  • Maintain contract status reports, risk registers, and other key control documents
  • Conduct and document pre- and post-award meetings with clients, internal teams, and contractors
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced Supply Chain personnel
  • Manage and assess complex payment claims in line with the Construction Contracts (Security of Payments) Act 2004 (NT)
  • Administer contract changes and lead resolution of contractual disputes
  • Collaborate closely with project teams to ensure all contractual obligations are met

About You:

  • Proven experience in contracts administration or commercial management in large-scale infrastructure, resources, or energy projects
  • Strong understanding of contract law, commercial risk, and supply chain processes
  • Demonstrated ability to lead negotiations and manage stakeholder relationships
  • Thorough knowledge of the Security of Payments Act and other relevant legislation
  • Exceptional communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills
  • Degree in Business, Law, Engineering, or related discipline preferred
