About the role

An opportunity is now available for a Purchasing Officer to join Boart Longyear's Supply Chain Team. This position will be based in our Forrestfield office, reporting into the Regional Supply Chain Manager.

The primary purpose of this position is the procurement of goods and services in support of Drilling Services and additional business functions across the Asia Pacific region. If successful, you will have full accountability for all purchasing and materials ordering third party and Boart Longyear manufactured product for Operational and Maintenance requirements, ensuring the business strategies and plans are delivered in the safest, most efficient and effective way.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Timely conversions of purchase requisitions into purchase orders or internal sales orders

  • The timely conversion of purchase requisitions into purchase orders or internal sales orders for all functional support areas

  • Driving Business Process Improvement initiatives

  • Working collaboratively with the Perth Distribution Centre for management and performance of Forward Stocking Locations (FSL’s)

  • Interpret and administer company policies and workplace procedures while driving compliance within the workplace

  • Represent Supply Chain at local weekly Operational and Maintenance meetings or as directed by Supply Chain Leader – APAC

  • Develop strong and productive working relationships with relevant stakeholders in the business

The successful applicant must possess:

  • Detailed understanding of all supply chain functions and processes, including – purchasing, vendor negotiations and cost saving initiatives

  • Have worked in a supply chain position previously

  • Strong attention to detail and high accuracy

  • Proven communication skills with the ability to converse with those at all levels
