Production Manager (Manufacturing)

Established in 2020 in Melbourne, FooDao has grown a strong presence in the local food manufacturing scene, recognised for delivering modern interpretations of beloved Chinese street-style dishes. As we continue to scale our operations and introduce new ready-made product ranges, including dumplings and dessert lines, we are strengthening our internal manufacturing capabilities to support this next phase of growth.

We are now seeking an experienced Production Manager (Manufacturing) to lead our production facility and ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality output.

Role Overview:

The Production Manager will oversee day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensuring production runs meet targets related to cost, output, quality and compliance. This role will manage staff performance, production planning, equipment utilisation and continuous process improvement. This aligns with the role of Production Managers who are responsible for planning, organising, directing and coordinating manufacturing activities and resources.

Key responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement manufacturing schedules to meet volume, quality and cost targets
2. Coordinate staff assignments, workflow and resource allocation across production lines
3. Monitor production results and adjust processes to improve efficiency and reduce waste
4. Ensure food safety, OH&S and quality control standards are adhered to across the facility
5. Oversee maintenance planning, equipment servicing schedules and procurement of tools/materials
6. Lead onboarding, training and performance supervision of production team members
7. Prepare production reporting, maintain documentation and communicate operational updates to senior management
8. Support the integration of new product lines and contribute to improvements in production methods and automation
9. Participate in research, testing and introduction of new equipment and processing techniques, where required

Skills and experience requirements:

1. Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Business, Manufacturing Management, Food Technology, or a related discipline
2. Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Production Manager or senior operations role within a commercial manufacturing setting
3. Proven experience coordinating production teams and factory operations
4. Strong understanding of quality control systems, compliance, food safety and OH&S standards
5. Demonstrated ability to analyse production performance and implement efficiency improvements
6. Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor staff
7. Experience in food manufacturing or FMCG production environments
8. Mandarin-speaking is an advantageous
