Within this environment, podiatrists endorsed by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) are supported to safely prescribe Scheduled Medicines as part of their clinical practice. The department also actively supports podiatrists seeking endorsement, providing structured supervision, clinical exposure, and professional development opportunities to progress their endorsement pathway.

You’ll be part of a supportive, highly skilled podiatry team where learning, growth, and innovation are genuinely valued.

The Role

Asa Podiatrist within our High Risk Foot Service, you will:

  1. Deliver evidence based podiatric care to people with chronic disease and complex foot conditions, including ulceration, peripheral neuropathy, PAD, significant deformity, and amputations.
  2. Provide both inpatient and outpatient services across Townsville University Hospital and the broader region.
  3. Build your clinical judgement and independence as you gain experience, supported by senior clinicians and the Director of Podiatry.
  4. Contribute to health promotion, ward rounds, wound care, and clinical research activities.
  5. Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver optimal patient outcomes.
  6. Support podiatry students and work alongside Therapy Assistants.

What You’ll Need

  1. A tertiary qualification in Podiatry.
  2. Current registration with AHPRA (Podiatry Board of Australia).
  3. A passion for high risk foot care and a commitment to evidence based practice.
  4. Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  5. Willingness to participate in rostered early mornings, weekends, or public holidays when required.
