Criniti’s Kotara is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Pastry Cook to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis. This role suits someone who is passionate about pastry preparation, maintains high food quality standards, and works well in a busy commercial kitchen.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Inspect kitchen equipment and food preparation areas before production begins to ensure cleanliness, safety, and compliance with workplace health and hygiene standards
- Assess the quality of ingredients and accurately measure materials needed for pastry production
- Prepare and process doughs and pastry mixtures, including mixing, kneading, shaping, cutting, and moulding
- Make a variety of pastry fillings and other related components
- Oversee baking processes by adjusting oven temperatures and checking product appearance to achieve the required results
- Manage the preparation and baking flow, including loading, unloading, cooling, and handling pastry products in batches
- Finish baked items by glazing pastries and decorating cakes using cream, icing, and other toppings
- Use bakery equipment and specialised machines for rolling, shaping, and cutting dough-based products
- Clean, grease, and maintain trays, tins, and other baking utensils and equipment after use
Requirements:
- At least 1 year of relevant work experience in a similar role
- Minimum Certificate-level qualification in a relevant field
- Sound knowledge of pastry preparation techniques and baking procedures
- Strong understanding of food safety, kitchen hygiene, and safe work practices
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced team environment
