Job Description

Painter (ANZSCO 332211)

Daily tasks include:

The Painter is responsible for carrying out painting and decorating work on residential and commercial properties. The role involves surface preparation, application of protective and decorative coatings, and ensuring all work complies with safety regulations, manufacturer specifications, and client requirements.

Main tasks include:

1. Preparing surfaces for painting by washing, scraping, sanding, filling cracks and holes, sealing gaps, and applying primers and undercoats.

2. Applying paints, varnishes, stains, sealants, and protective coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.

3. Measuring, cutting, and applying wallpaper and other decorative finishes where required.

4. Mixing paints and matching colours to specification.

5. Erecting and dismantling ladders and scaffolding in accordance with WHS requirements.

6. Interpreting job specifications, work orders, and building plans.

7. Ensuring compliance with safety standards and maintaining a clean and organised worksite.

8. Maintaining tools, spray equipment, and materials in safe working condition.

Requirements

1. Level of required qualification:

a. Certificate III in Painting and Decorating (or overseas equivalent recognised as comparable).

2. Number of years of experience:

a. Minimum of 2 years of relevant full-time experience in painting and decorating,

or

b. A relevant Australian trade qualification with demonstrated practical industry experience.

3. Other main requirements:

a. Strong knowledge of painting techniques, materials, and application methods including spray painting.

b. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

c. Strong understanding of Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations.

d. High level of attention to detail and quality control.

e. Good time management and ability to meet project deadlines.

f. White Card (mandatory).

g. Current Driver’s Licence (preferred).

Annual Salary

AUD $76,515 + superannuation (38 hours per week)
