O&M Supervisor (BESS)

Site location: near Port Pirie, DIDO
Electrical background

The role will be the primary technical lead in delivering world-class maintenance for a premier utility-scale renewable and integrated Battery Energy Storage System. You will be responsible for maximising asset availability ensuring 100% safety compliance and managing the lifecycle of HV infrastructure and advanced energy storage systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership & Asset Management

• Maintenance Strategy: Execute preventative and corrective maintenance programs for the BESS unit.
• Asset Performance: Monitor SCADA data to identify underperformance; lead root cause analysis (RCA) for repeat faults.
• Supply Chain: Manage critical spares for BESS assets, ensuring long-lead items (transformers, inverter modules, pitch bearings) are stocked or procured.

HV & Electrical Oversight

• Switching Operations: Act as the HV Switching Signatory for the site. Develop, review, and execute switching programs up to 132kV.
• Grid Compliance: Ensure the facility operates within the Generator Performance Standards (GPS) and coordinates with ElectraNet or AEMO for planned outages.
• BESS Integration: Oversee the maintenance of DC/AC inverters, battery modules, and thermal management systems (liquid cooling loops).

Safety & Environment (HSE)

• Permit to Work (PTW): Act as the primary Issuing Officer for all high-risk work, including HV isolations, Working at Heights, and Confined Spaces.
• Emergency Response: Lead the site emergency response team, specifically managing risks related to BESS thermal runaway and wind turbine rescue.
• Compliance: Maintain the site’s Environmental Management Plan, focusing on noise compliance and local flora/fauna protections.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering
• A-Grade Electrical License
• HV Switching 33kV to 132kV
• Site asset management experience renewable or BESS operations
