Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Disability Support Worker to provide in-home and community assistance for a female participant who prefers a Farsi, Dari, or Persian-speaking support worker. This contract role pays $40 to $50 per hour and requires a commitment to respectful, safe, and responsive personal care and domestic support.
Key Responsibilities
- Personal Care / Assisted Daily Living: Support with bathing, dressing, grooming, continence management, and mobility assistance including transfers with hoists and manual handling.
- Medication Assistance: Safe administration and prompting of medications according to care plans and under supervision when required.
- Bowel Care and Enema Administration: Competent and sensitive delivery of bowel care procedures in line with clinical directions and participant consent.
- Catheter Care: Routine catheter support and observation, reporting any concerns promptly to clinical leads.
- Wheelchair and Mobility Management: Assistance with wheelchair transfers, positioning and safe transportation within community activities.
- Hoist Transfers: Skilled use of hoist equipment for safe transfers, complying with manual handling guidelines.
- Domestic Assistance and Meal Preparation: Household tasks, meal planning and preparation, shopping support, and maintaining a safe living environment.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 1 year experience; candidates with 1–2, 3–6, 7–10, 11+ or 15+ years of relevant experience are all considered.
- Current police check and a clean background suitable for disability support work.
- Own reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license for community transport and errands.
- Fluent in Farsi, Dari, or Persian is highly desirable to support communication and cultural needs.
