Jian's Smash Repair Pty Ltd is a Perth-based automotive repair business providing vehicle accident repair and restoration services. As our business continues to grow, we are seeing increasing demand for post-collision mechanical diagnosis, repair and servicing work across a wide range of light vehicles, including newer hybrid and electric vehicle models.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic to join our team on a full-time basis. The successful applicant will play an important role in diagnosing, repairing, maintaining and testing light vehicles to ensure they are safe, roadworthy and operating efficiently.
This role is suited to a trade-qualified mechanic with solid experience in light vehicle mechanical systems. Experience working on hybrid and electric vehicles will be highly regarded, particularly where the applicant has exposure to newer vehicle platforms and manufacturer diagnostic systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
·Detecting and diagnosing mechanical faults and vehicle system issues using scan tools, testing equipment and road tests
·Inspecting light vehicles, including post-collision vehicles, to identify faults in engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, braking and other mechanical components
·Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other mechanical parts for inspection and repair
·Repairing or replacing worn, damaged or defective mechanical parts and components
·Reassembling engines, parts and related mechanical systems after repair
·Testing and adjusting repaired mechanical parts and systems to ensure proper performance and safe operation
·Carrying out mechanical diagnosis, servicing and repair work on petrol, hybrid and electric vehicles, including newer vehicle platforms increasingly seen in the Australian market
·Using computerised diagnostic equipment and manufacturer service information to identify and rectify faults, including faults related to hybrid and electric vehicle systems
·Assisting with mechanical inspection, servicing and repair work associated with newer vehicle technologies, including hybrid and electric vehicle platforms
·Following workplace safety procedures when handling vehicles equipped with high-voltage or advanced electronic systems
·Performing final checks, road tests and workshop quality inspections to confirm vehicles are functioning correctly
·Liaising with workshop staff and customers regarding mechanical issues, required repairs and service outcomes
·Maintaining accurate service records and following all workshop safety and compliance procedures
THE ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
·At least AQF Certificate III in the related field
·At least 1-year close related experience in a commercial environment
·Strong knowledge of light vehicle mechanical systems, including engines, transmissions, steering, suspension and brakes
·Experience using diagnostic scan tools and workshop testing equipment
·Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
·Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and in a team
·Experience working on hybrid and electric vehicles will be highly regarded
·Familiarity with Chinese vehicle brands and EV platforms will be highly regarded
