About the role

selectability has an exciting opportunity for a life coach to join our team. As a life coach you will assist members set meaningful goals to enable them to create a life on their terms; assisting to close the gap between where they are and where they want to be. The Clubhouse is a dynamic environment that supports a growing community of members living with mental illness.

The peer-supported environment allows members to build confidence, make friends, learn the skills needed to access education and employment opportunities. You will work with members to develop the weekly programs and assist in the day-to-day operations of the Clubhouse.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • foster a positive, supportive, and motivating environment for personal growth
  • collaborate with other professionals to provide holistic support and resources
  • monitor and evaluate client progress, adjusting coaching strategies as needed
  • empower clients to build confidence, improve well-being, and enhance their quality of life

About you

To be considered for this rewarding role you will have great interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

To be successful you must have:

  • a commitment to selectability’s value
  • a professional approach
  • an ability to read and play music (highly desirable)
  • experience in the mental health industry
  • excellent communication skills, with the ability to reach an isolated audience
  • most importantly… a positive attitude!

Role requirements

  • relevant tertiary qualifications and/or experience (highly desirable)
  • current nationally recognised First aid & CPR certificates (or the ability to obtain)
  • a Positive Notice Working with Children (blue card) (or the ability to obtain)
  • NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or the ability to obtain)
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module "Quality, Safety & You" completion certificate
  • a current minimum P1 "C" class Queensland drivers licence
  • roadworthy vehicle with comprehensive insurance

This is a casual time position based in Ingham.

Our recovery-oriented services include:


Individual supports: through our connected care approach we to support our consumers to build personal skills, develop relationships and improve their wellbeing.


Support coordination: we work with our consumers to reduce complexities in the support environment and help them to develop plans to meet personal goals.


Group supports: we support our consumers to make friends, learn new skills, build capacity and strengthen connections within their community in social and peer environments.


Clubhouses: the Clubhouse approach supports members to build confidence, make friends and learn the skills to access education and employment opportunities in a non-clinical environment.


Clinical services: we provide GP, psychology and counselling services from our Mental Wellbeing Practices to empower individuals to improve their mental wellbeing.


Family and carer support: we offer group and one-on-one sessions to support those caring for a loved one living with a mental illness.


Suicide prevention: selectability implements the suicide prevention networks in Townsville and the Mackay region. These groups are dedicated to developing outcome driven strategies for the prevention of suicide across the regions.


selectability was created in March 2017, following the merger of Supported Options in Lifestyle and Access Services (SOLAS) and Mental Illness Fellowship North Queensland (MIFNQ).
