SJ Clemenger is a leading freight and logistics business designed to handle the complexities of today’s global trade. We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute General Manager – Sales & Marketing to lead our client growth and market development initiatives within our freight forwarding business.
Reporting to the Director, this role will oversee the Strategic Accounts Executive team and focus on strengthening existing client relationships while identifying and securing new business opportunities.
About the Role
This is a hands-on, relationship-driven role where growth is achieved through deep client engagement, strategic account management, and targeted business development rather than high-volume sales activity.
You will play a key role in nurturing our existing customer base, ensuring long-term partnerships, and driving sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and guide all sales and account management activities, including product mix, service offering, geographic focus, and customer service standards
- Lead and support the Strategic Accounts Executive team in managing and growing key client relationships
- Build strong, long-term partnerships with existing customers, identifying opportunities to expand services and increase value
- Drive targeted business development initiatives to secure new clients aligned with our strategic direction
- Coordinate distribution approaches and service delivery in collaboration with internal teams, agents, and partners
- Monitor market trends and customer needs to inform business growth and positioning
- Maintain a strong focus on service quality and client satisfaction across all touchpoints
- Control budgets, pricing strategies, and financial performance related to sales and marketing functions
- Provide strategic advice and regular performance reports to senior management
- representing the organisation at official occasions
About You
- Over 10 years experience in freight forwarding or logistics, with a strong background in business development
- Demonstrated ability to grow revenue through existing client relationships as well as targeted new business
- Commercially minded with a strategic, long-term approach to growth
- Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills
- Comfortable working in a lean team environment with a hands-on approach
- A relevant Bachelor degree or higher qualification
