Our Industry partner, Marquee Hotel Operations Pty Ltd, trading as Sofitel Brisbane Central is a five-star luxury hotel located in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD, directly above Central Station. As part of the internationally recognised Sofitel brand, the hotel offers 416 luxury rooms and suites, premium dining venues, 24-hour in-room dining, and extensive guest facilities including a fitness centre, pool, spa, and executive lounge. The hotel also operates Brisbane’s largest five-star hotel meeting and event facilities, with 11 conference rooms catering for up to 1,100 guests. Through its accommodation, food and beverage, and event operations, Sofitel Brisbane Central plays a significant role in Brisbane’s hospitality and tourism sector.
Sofitel Brisbane Central is currently seeking an Engineering Manager to support its growing operations and ensure the effective oversight of engineering functions, project delivery, and operational performance.

Key responsibilities:
- Developing, applying, and reviewing engineering strategies, policies, and operational plans
- Analysing plans, technical drawings, and specifications, and advising on suitable engineering approaches and procedures to meet construction and production objectives
- Preparing and managing project timelines and budget allocations
- ensuring all work complies with approved specifications, project plans, relevant legislation, regulations, and safety requirements
- Monitoring engineering activities to maintain standards in quality, cost control, safety, timeliness, and overall performance
- Supervising maintenance programs to improve operational efficiency and reliability
- Coordinating with marketing, research, and manufacturing managers on engineering requirements for new developments and product design
- Contributing to research and development initiatives where required
Qualifications:
- A recognised engineering degree, with 15+ years of relevant engineering experience;
- A strong track record in leading and managing large multidisciplinary engineering teams in a consulting, EPCM, asset owner or project delivery environment;
- Deep engineering knowledge within the Mining, Energy, Oil and Gas, or related industrial sectors;
- Demonstrated experience delivering complex engineering projects, with a strong understanding of project execution, scheduling, budgets, commercial drivers and the end-to-end asset development lifecycle;
- Strong people leadership capability, including team development, coaching, performance management and building a positive team culture;
- Well-developed client relationship and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust, influence outcomes and support long-term business growth;
- A strong understanding of the local market, including industry trends, client drivers and key contacts that can support business development activities;
- Experience contributing to or leading engineering proposals, tenders and pursuits, with the ability to identify opportunities and help convert them into work.
