Purpose of position:
The Solar Design Engineer is a professional engineering role responsible for the Solar design, technical assessment, and compliance of solar PV and battery storage systems. The Solar Engineer will work closely with installers, project teams, and sales staff to ensure systems are engineered in accordance with Australian Standards, network requirements, and best engineering practice.
Responsibilities:
1. Designing the complete solar design system including panel layouts and the selection of appropriate components such as solar panels, batteries, charge controllers, and LED lights.
2. Calculating the power requirements and ensuring the system is sized appropriately to meet the lighting needs of the area.
3. Developing wiring diagrams and electrical layouts for the installation, ensuring compliance with electrical codes and standards.

5. Conduct system sizing, shading analysis, and ROI calculations based on customer consumption data.
6. Structural Engineering involving (1) Racking System Design; and (2) Structural Attachment.
7. Providing maintenance guidelines and training to maintenance personnel for ongoing upkeep of the system.
8. Troubleshooting and resolving any electrical issues that may arise during or after installation.
9. Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies to incorporate into system designs.
10. Evaluate and optimize existing solar installations for improved performance and efficiency.
11. Assist in the development of proposals and technical presentations for client meetings.
12. Ensure accurate and complete supporting documentation for order processing.
13. Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and environmental requirements.
14. Analyse system performance data and identify potential faults or performance issues
Skill requirement
1.Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or Renewable Energy
2.Minimum 2 years of work experience in the relevant field at the required skill level.
3.Proficiency with CAD software for system design and layout.
4.Experience with solar design software like PVsyst, Helioscope, or Aurora Solar.
5.Ability to diagnose and fix technical issues with solar setups.
6.Strong communication skills to get what the customer needs and explain technical stuff in plain English.
7.Ability to work well with other engineers, installers, and stakeholders.
8.High level of accuracy in design, installation, and documentation to ensure system reliability and safety.
9.Keen on staying up to date with the latest in solar tech and industry standards.
