About the role

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Diesel Motor Mechanic to join our team. As a Diesel motor mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of vehicles. Your duties will include conducting vehicle inspections, order necessary parts, and ensuring high-quality service delivery both in the workshop and, when required, off-site.

Role and Responsibilities

  1. Maintains, inspects, and repairs diesel engines and the mechanical components of heavy vehicles such as trucks and buses, including transmission, suspension, steering, and braking systems. Professional registration or licensing may be required in some jurisdictions.
  2. Identify and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults in engines and vehicle components.
  3. Use computer-based diagnostic tools to test and identify faults in vehicle parts and systems.
  4. Dismantle and remove engine systems, transmissions, steering units, and other parts to inspect and assess their condition.
  5. Repair or replace damaged and worn components and reassemble mechanical systems using service manuals when required.
  6. Reassemble engines and related parts after completing repairs.
  7. Test and fine-tune repaired mechanical components to ensure correct performance and safety.
  8. Carry out routine maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrication, and engine tuning to ensure smooth vehicle operation and compliance with environmental standards.
  9. Inspect vehicles and, where authorised, issue roadworthiness certificates or provide details of repairs needed to meet safety standards.
  10. Respond to vehicle breakdowns and provide on-site repair assistance.

Skills and experience

  1. Must have more than 1 year of experience working as a Diesel Motor Mechanic.
  2. Applicant must have a Certificate III in Automotive or a higher qualification
  3. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow the procedures accurately.

  5. Flexibility to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
