About the role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Diesel Fitter Mechanic to join our team at Rockmate Landscape Supplies at North Maclean, Queensland. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and reliability of our vehicles.
What you'll be doing
- Performing mechanical fitting, assembly, maintenance and repair of diesel engine components, mechanical systems, and associated equipment.
- Diagnosing mechanical faults and dismantling engines, transmissions, pumps, and other mechanical assemblies to repair or replace worn or defective parts.
- Fitting, assembling, and installing mechanical components, ensuring correct tolerances, alignment, and operational performance.
- Conducting scheduled maintenance and servicing of diesel engines and mechanical systems to ensure reliability and compliance with operational standards.
- Using precision measuring instruments and diagnostic tools to test, adjust, and verify the performance of mechanical components and systems.
- Reassembling mechanical units following repair and conducting operational testing to confirm correct functioning.
- Keeping detailed records of all work performed and parts used
- Adhering to all relevant safety standards and compliance requirements
- Providing guidance and support to less experienced team members
- Maintaining a clean and organised work environment
What we're looking for
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a mechanical fitting, maintenance and repair of diesel-powered machinery or heavy mechanical equipment.
- Relevant trade qualification or demonstrated equivalent industry experience in mechanical fitting, diesel engines or heavy mechanical
equipment
- Extensive knowledge of diesel engine systems, electrical systems, and diagnostic procedures
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality work
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Current driver's licence and the ability to operate a range of vehicles
