Are you a data governance expert with a passion for privacy, classification, and compliance?

Were seeking a Data Governance Consultant for an initial 2-month engagement with a leading financial services organisation based in Sydney. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a tangible impact on critical data initiatives in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
What you'll be working on:
Personally Identifiable Information (PII) Governance

  • Review existing PII governance across core applications.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to scope and plan the review of non-core applications.
  • Document the landscape of non-core applications and recommend appropriate tooling (e.g., Microsoft Purview, AWS Glue).
  • Analyse the current data product repository.
  • Identify, map, and/or create governance domains; perform data profiling as needed.
  • Provide actionable recommendations and remediation plans for existing data policies.
  • Implement approved changes to PII governance for non-core applications.

Data Classification

  • Evaluate the current data classification framework and supporting documentation.
  • Review sensitivity labelling practices and gather user feedback on usability and complexity.
  • Recommend and document improvements to classification structures.
  • Implement approved changes and apply sensitivity labels to documents and emails.
  • Update automated labelling policies in line with agreed changes.

What you need to have:

  • Proven experience in data governance, particularly within financial services.
  • Strong understanding of PII, data classification frameworks and sensitivity labelling.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Microsoft Purview, AWS Glue and other data governance platforms.
  • Excellent documentation and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver outcomes within tight timeframes.
