About the Role
Tristar Online Pty Ltd is a growing Australian e-commerce and retail business delivering innovative products through online and retail channels. Due to continued expansion, we are transitioning key analytical functions previously performed offshore to a full-time role based in Australia.
We are seeking a motivated Data Analyst / Statistician to apply statistical, mathematical, and analytical techniques to support business decision-making, operational planning, and performance analysis in our retail and e-commerce operations.
Whilst TRISTAR Online Pty Ltd has offices in both NSW and South Australia the role will be initially based in Adelaide, with occasional travel between sites. All interviews will be conducted in Sydney.
Key Responsibilities
- Analytical Modelling & Forecasting: Develop, apply, and refine statistical and mathematical models to forecast product demand, sales performance, inventory requirements, and pricing strategies.
- Business Problem Solving: Analyse complex retail, sales, and operational datasets to identify trends, optimise workflows, and provide insights that support strategic decisions.
- Data Collection & Preparation: Specify data to be collected from internal and external sources; ensure accuracy, completeness, and usability of datasets.
- Statistical Analysis & Interpretation: Apply quantitative and numerical analysis techniques to interpret sales, inventory, and customer behaviour data, producing actionable insights.
- Reporting & Visualisation: Prepare interactive dashboards, reports, and visualisations to communicate findings to management, marketing, and operational teams.
- Data Mining & Cleansing: Perform data cleansing, validation, and data mining to ensure the reliability and integrity of all analytical outputs.
- Automation & Machine Learning: Build and deploy automated data processing scripts and machine learning frameworks to improve forecasting, pricing, inventory management, and operational efficiency.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with management and operational teams to define analytical objectives, KPIs, and reporting requirements.
- Model Application & Adjustment: Test, apply, and refine analytical models based on operational data and emerging trends.
- Insight Generation: Analyse results to produce statistical summaries, trends, and patterns to inform business, marketing, and sales strategies.
Skills & Qualifications
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a closely related quantitative field.
- Minimum 2 years full-time relevant professional experience in (to be reference-checked).
- Proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy), SQL, Excel, and data visualisation tools.
- Demonstrated ability to apply statistical techniques, develop models, and produce reports and dashboards.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
Desirable:
- Experience in retail or e-commerce analytics.
- Knowledge of predictive modelling, machine learning, and automated reporting systems.
