About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Cook to join our team on a full-time basis. The role involves full responsibility for kitchen operations, including meal preparation, cooking, plating, portion control, and cleaning, to ensure smooth service. This role also involves managing stock, supporting junior staff, and maintaining food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and present meals according to recipes and service standards, including breakfast, Australian pub-style dishes, seafood, curries, rice dishes, and burgers
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely, including ovens, grills, fryers, and stovetops
- Portion meals, add sauces and garnishes, and ensure consistent presentation and quality
- Prepare meals to meet special dietary requirements where needed
- Store ingredients and prepared food in temperature-controlled facilities in accordance with food safety guidelines
- Assist with menu planning, ordering, stock management, and estimating ingredient requirements
- Monitor portion control and minimize food wastage
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and hygiene across all kitchen areas
- Support junior kitchen staff and provide guidance on cooking techniques and kitchen operations
- Work collaboratively with management and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service delivery
Requirements
- Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery/ Kitchen Management or at least three years of relevant commercial cooking experience
- Minimum 1-2 years’ relevant experience
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations
- Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety standards
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Flexible availability, including weekends and public holidays
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and time-management skills
