The Role:

You will join our Engineering team and lead the design, documentation and delivery of civil infrastructure and/or structural projects from conceptual stage through to construction.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Undertake design, analysis and documentation for civil works (roads, drainage, services, earthworks) and/or other structural elements (foundation, beams, columns, slabs, connections, etc.)
  2. Manage project phases including feasibility, detailed design, tender review and construction support.
  3. Conduct site visits to collect data, measure, inspect existing structures and assess site conditions for compliant engineering solutions.
  4. Collaborate with clients, architects, contractors and internal teams to ensure project objectives, budgets, and timelines are met.
  5. Prepare technical reports, specifications and calculations, and ensure compliance with relevant Australian standards and WA legislation.
  6. Monitor quality, risk and budget performance, and recommend design improvements or value-engineering solutions.
  7. Prepare cost estimates and Bills of Quantities (BoQ) for structural and civil works, supporting project budgeting and tendering processes.
  8. Mentor and support junior engineers and engineers-in-training, contributing to the development of the team.
  9. Coordinate closely with drafting and architectural teams to ensure design consistency, accuracy, and integration across all project disciplines.

Key Requirements (Essential):

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) and current registration (or ability to attain) as a Professional Engineer in WA (RPEQ / NER).
  2. Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in civil/structural design or project delivery within consulting, infrastructure or resources environments.
  3. Proven experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit or equivalent), structural design software especially STAAD Pro, RAM Structural and MS Office suite.
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to liaise professionally with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders.
  5. Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills, able to meet deadlines and deliver high quality work.
  6. Current WA driver’s licence and willingness to travel to site locations when required.

Desirable (Nice-to-Haves):

  1. Experience in WA local government infrastructure, mining or resource sector design projects.
  2. Knowledge of sustainable engineering practices, infrastructure for remote/regional works or innovative materials.
  3. Experience in mentoring junior staff or managing small teams.
