About the Role

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Chef to join the kitchen team at The Bungalow Petersham. The successful candidate will play an important role in preparing and delivering high-quality dishes across breakfast, lunch, and dinner services, contributing to the restaurant’s reputation for flavour, consistency, and creativity.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Prepare, cook, and present a variety of dishes aligned with The Bungalow’s menu and service standards.
  2. Maintain high standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation.
  3. Assist in menu planning and development, incorporating seasonal and locally sourced ingredients.
  4. Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP).
  5. Manage stock levels, control ordering, and minimise kitchen wastage.
  6. Supervise and train kitchen staff to ensure efficiency and teamwork.
  7. Work collaboratively with the Head Chef to ensure smooth kitchen operations across all service periods.

Skills & Experience Required

  1. Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a commercial kitchen.
  2. Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent qualification).
  3. Strong understanding of modern Australian café and restaurant cuisine.
  4. Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  5. Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  6. Passion for quality food and a commitment to delivering great customer experiences.
