Hidden Gem is an iconic venue renowned for its vibrant atmosphere, quality food, and local cafe. We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook dishes to the highest standard during service in a busy kitchen.
- Ensure consistency in quality, presentation, and taste across all menu items.
- Work across various kitchen stations including grill, pans, larder, and fryer as needed.
- Assist with daily kitchen prep and maintain readiness for peak periods.
- Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Collaborate with the Cook / kitchen hand on menu development and specials.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with stock rotation and inventory control.
- Train and support junior kitchen staff when required.
- Menu & Recipe Development: Researching trends to create cohesive menus and daily specials that align with the establishment's identity and budget.
- Kitchen Management: Overseeing daily operations, including setting up workstations, monitoring equipment maintenance, and ensuring service runs on time.
- Food Quality & Presentation: Monitoring every stage of preparation to ensure dishes meet high standards for taste, temperature, and visual appeal.
- Administrative Duties: Managing food costs, setting prices, maintaining inventory, and negotiating with suppliers to ensure profitability.
- Safety & Hygiene: Enforcing strict adherence to local health codes, sanitation regulations, and safe food handling practices.
- Staff Leadership: Hiring, training, and mentoring kitchen staff while managing schedules and fostering a cooperative team environment
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Chef in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Flexibility to work across a 7-day roster including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- Positive attitude and strong team ethic.

Permanent full time role with a starting salary of $76K - $85K Salary (plus super).
