Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Chef to join our team in a full-time permanent role. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality dishes while maintaining food safety and hygiene standards. The role also involves supervising kitchen staff, assisting with menu planning, managing food supplies and inventory, and coordinating with management and front-of-house staff to ensure efficient kitchen operations and a positive dining experience.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation and Cooking
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes while maintaining high standards of taste, quality, and presentation.
- Monitor all stages of food preparation to ensure consistency and quality.
Kitchen Operations
- Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations.
- Train and support kitchen team members to maintain high performance and teamwork.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and kitchen cleanliness standards.
Inventory and Supplies Management
- Monitor stock levels, conduct regular inventory checks and order food ingredients and kitchen supplies as required.
- Minimise waste and ensure proper storage and handling of ingredients.
Menu Development
- Assist management with menu planning and development.
- Contribute ideas for new dishes and seasonal menu offerings.
Cost Control and Efficiency
- Assist in monitoring food and labour costs to maintain operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records to support cost control.
Communication and Coordination
- Work closely with management, kitchen staff, and front-of-house staff to ensure efficient service and kitchen operations.
- Address dietary requirements and special requests where required.
Culinary Standards
- Demonstrate professional cooking techniques and guide staff in food preparation and storage practices.
- Maintain high culinary standards across all menu items.
Requirements
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent culinary training.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen environment.
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques and kitchen operations.
- Ability to manage food preparation and kitchen workflow effectively.
- Sound knowledge of food safety practices and HACCP compliance.
- Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
