Ramona Pty Ltd, trading as Sofia Pizza House – Burwood, is currently seeking a passionate, skilled, and experienced Chef to join our growing team. We are a well-established and fast-paced restaurant committed to delivering high-quality meals and exceptional dining experiences to our customers.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Chef to take responsibility for planning, organising, and overseeing the preparation and cooking of food within our busy kitchen. You will play a key role in maintaining consistency, quality, and efficiency in all aspects of food service while contributing to menu development and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and organise the preparation and cooking of food in a dining establishment
- Design and update menus in line with customer preferences and seasonal availability
- Estimate food and labour costs and manage kitchen budgets effectively
- Order, receive, and manage food supplies and stock levels
- Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation, cooking, and presentation
- Ensure all meals are prepared to a high standard and served promptly
- Discuss food preparation and service issues with Managers, Dietitians, and kitchen and waiting staff
- Demonstrate cooking techniques and provide guidance on food preparation procedures
- Prepare and cook a wide range of dishes, maintaining consistency and quality
- Enforce strict hygiene, food safety, and workplace health and safety regulations
- Train, supervise, and support kitchen staff as required
- Implement food preservation techniques including freezing and storage
Skills & Qualifications
- AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, or Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2) in Commercial Cookery or related field
- Relevant work experience as a Chef
- Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety, and hygiene standards
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organisational, leadership, and communication skills
- Passion for food, creativity, and attention to detail
