Urban Grounds Café, Toowoomba is seeking an experienced and motivated Chef to join our kitchen team on a permanent full-time basis.

In this role, you will be responsible for the preparation and production of high-quality food, maintaining kitchen standards, and supporting smooth daily kitchen operations. You will contribute to consistent service delivery, food safety compliance, and a positive, professional working environment in a fast-paced hospitality setting.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare, cook, and present menu items to a high standard across all kitchen sections

Ensure efficient food production during service periods

Maintain consistency in food quality, presentation, and portion control

Follow recipes, menus, and operational standards

Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety requirements

Assist with menu planning and development as required

Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and safety in the kitchen

Assist with stock ordering, stock rotation, and inventory control

Receive and store stock deliveries according to food safety requirements

Monitor kitchen equipment and report maintenance issues

Participate in cleaning schedules and general kitchen maintenance

Support a positive team culture and professional work environment

Skills and Experience Required

Proven experience working in a high-volume commercial kitchen

Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredients, kitchen equipment, and food preparation methods

Ability to follow recipes and operational standards accurately

Good communication and teamwork skills

Strong organisational and time-management skills

Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends

Qualifications Required

Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (minimum requirement)

Minimum 3 years of relevant industry experience in a commercial kitchen environment
