We are currently seeking a skilled and passionate Chef/ Cook to join our team on a full-time basis.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and assist in developing menus in collaboration with management.
- Estimate food and labour costs and assist with maintaining cost control.
- Order and manage food supplies and kitchen inventory to ensure adequate stock levels.
- Prepare and cook menu items, ensuring consistent quality, taste, and presentation.
- Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation.
- Discuss food preparation issues with managers, kitchen staff, and service staff.
- Demonstrate cooking techniques and guide junior kitchen staff.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations.
- Assist with selecting, training, and supervising kitchen staff where required.
- Implement appropriate food storage, freezing, and preservation techniques.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment.
About You
Required
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery.
- At least 1 year of experience in a busy commercial kitchen.
- Experience with menu planning, food preparation, and cooking techniques.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
Desired
- Experience with food costing, stock control, and ordering supplies.
- Ability to train and mentor junior kitchen staff.
- Creativity and passion for menu development and presentation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality food standards.
