Your Next Role - Shape the Future of Aboriginal Health

BRAMS is seeking multiple Female and Male Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Workers to join the Broome-based team.

Reporting to the Mental Health Manager, you will deliver culturally safe, trauma-informed, and strengths-based support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men or women, their families, and the broader community.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Delivering case management support tailored to community and individual needs
  2. Conducting holistic assessments and developing goal-centred case plans
  3. Facilitating gender-specific SEWB group sessions focused on healing and identity
  4. Promoting education, help-seeking behaviour, and mental health awareness
  5. Working collaboratively with family violence practitioners, social workers, and community service staff
  6. Maintaining accurate records including case notes and referrals
  7. Supporting ongoing quality improvement aligned with BRAMS’ Model of Care
  8. Working on the ground in Broome with no external travel required

You'll join a tight-knit team of eight, including social workers and family violence practitioners, all working together to support healing and resilience. Led by a supportive, client-focused Mental Health Manager, the team thrives on collaboration, shared knowledge, and respect.

With a manageable caseload of around 20 clients, and the opportunity to run yarning circles and group sessions, you’ll have the time and support to build real relationships and deliver care that truly makes a difference, not just in the moment, but for generations to come.

To qualify, you must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and hold (or be willing to obtain) a Certificate IV or Diploma in Community Services, Counselling, Mental Health, or a related field.

We’re also open to recent Graduates! If you’ve just finished your studies, BRAMS will provide support and training to help you thrive.

Additionally, the following experience and skills will be highly regarded:

  1. Experience working within Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations
  2. Knowledge of trauma-informed care, SEWB principles, and community engagement
  3. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  4. Familiarity with service networks and supports in the Kimberley region
